Air Fryer Roast Beef
A variety of recipes for roast beef may be found on Supergolden Bakes. I was really interested in seeing if I could make an air-fried beef roast with my new Cosori XXL huge air fryer.
Warning: spoilers The Air Fryer Roast Beef is revolutionary! Such flavorful, tender roast beef that’s also quite simple to prepare!
Here are several reasons to adore my recipe for Air Fryer Roast Beef.
1. incredibly simple and fast to prepare
2. Very few components
3. Cooks in less than an hour, which is nearly twice as fast as in an oven.
4. Perfectly cooked, juicy, and tender beef joint
Ingredients
Seasoning
▢ Two teaspoons of coarse salt
▢ One teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
▢ ½ teaspoon of dried thyme
▢ ½ teaspoon of garlic powder
▢ 1/4 teaspoon of dried rosemary
▢½ teaspoon brown sugar or mustard powder
Regarding the Roast Beef
▢ Make sure the 2 ½ pounds (1.2 kg) roasted beef joint fits in your air fryer.
▢ Three tablespoons of olive oil
Directions
1. After removing it from the refrigerator, blot dry the beef joint. Give it half an hour to reach room temperature. Verify that your joint will fit inside the air fryer. A larger joint can always be cut in half.
2. In the meantime, preheat the air fryer for ten minutes at 400°F/200°C. Combine all the seasonings and drizzle olive oil over the entire beef. Cover the steak with the spice mix.
3. Place the meat in the air fryer basket with a liner inside (optional). For ten to fifteen minutes, roast. Similar to searing the beef in a skillet before roasting it in the oven, cooking the beef at a high temperature will produce a beautiful crust on the outside that will seal all the delicious fluids inside.
4. Flip the steak over after removing the air fryer basket. Lower the heat to 350°F/180°C and continue cooking for another half hour.
5. Using an instant read thermometer, start measuring the beef’s internal temperature by sticking the probe into the thickest, central section. Adjust the cooking time by adding 5 minutes until the desired temperature is reached, using the chart in the recipe notes as a guide. Keep in mind that the joint’s temperature will continue to rise somewhat when it is at rest, so account for that. My typical goal is medium rare, which is 130–134°F/55–57°C.
6. Place the beef on a warm plate and loosely cover with foil once it is cooked to your preference. Before slicing across the grain and serving with your preferred side dishes, let it rest for 20 to 30 minutes.
Remarks
For this dish, I used the Thermapen and the Cosori XXL air fryer.
Temperature Chart for Beef Roast

Health Information
Compared to conventional roasting techniques, air fryer roast beef has a number of health advantages, particularly because it can lower the final dish’s fat and calorie content. Here are a few important health factors:
Decreased Fat Content:
The roast beef has less added fat because air fryers cook meals using hot air circulation, which uses little to no oil. More oil is usually used in traditional roasting or pan-frying techniques, which results in an increase in calories and fat.
Lean Meat Cuts:
Selecting lean beef cuts, such as eye of round, tenderloin, or sirloin, for air fryer roasting will greatly lower the meat’s fat content. These cuts are excellent for heart health because they are high in protein and low in saturated fat.
High Protein:
A great source of protein, which is necessary for muscle growth, repair, and other body processes, is beef. Compared to other cooking methods, air fryer roast beef minimizes unnecessary fat while retaining this nutrition.
Retention of Nutrients:
Iron, zinc, and B vitamins (including B12) are among the nutrients that can be preserved by air-frying roast beef. These nutrients are frequently lost during extended cooking times at high heat. These nutrients may be preserved thanks to the air fryer’s great efficiency and reduced cooking time.
No Added Chemicals:
Using an air fryer is a healthier and cleaner way to cook roast beef since it eliminates the need for chemical-laden cooking sprays or oils that can be used in other cooking techniques.
Portion Control:
Air fryers provide more regular portion sizes due to their rapid and even cooking, which aids in portion control and helps avoid overindulging.
Cooking Tips
Pick the Correct Beef Cut:
Lean cuts such as round roast, tenderloin, or sirloin yield the greatest results. In an air fryer, these cuts often cook evenly, producing juicy, tender results.
Season Well:
Give the steak a good seasoning before putting it in the air fryer. The flavor can be improved with a basic mixture of olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary. For a more intense taste, marinate the beef for at least half an hour or overnight.
Warm the Air Fryer:
Before adding the roast beef, warm the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for three to five minutes. This will ensure a crispier exterior layer and even cooking. This guarantees that the steak will begin cooking as soon as it is placed inside.
Use a Meat Thermometer:
To get the ideal roast beef, check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer. Aim for 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare, 140°F (60°C) for medium, and 160°F (71°C) for well-done. By doing this, you can make sure your roast beef is cooked to the doneness you want without going beyond.
Don’t Overcrowd:
For the best air circulation, leave enough room in the air fryer basket for your roast beef. If you’re preparing a large piece, it might be advisable to cook it in batches because overcrowding might cause uneven cooking.
Rest After Cooking:
Take your roast beef out of the air fryer and let it ten minutes to rest after cooking. This guarantees a roast that is moist and tasty by allowing the liquids to disperse.
Take Size into Account:
Smaller chunks of roast beef will cook faster, while larger pieces may take longer. Pay attention to the roast’s size and modify the cooking time as necessary.
Think About a Quick Sear (Optional):
Before air-frying your roast beef, sear it in a hot skillet for two to three minutes on each side if you prefer a crispy, caramelized crust. This process improves texture and flavor.
Conclusion
An easier and healthier way to enjoy this traditional dinner is to cook roast beef in an air fryer. The dish is leaner while maintaining the nutrients and flavors thanks to the air fryer’s ability to cook with little to no oil. A properly roasted, juicy, and tasty roast beef may be made in a fraction of the time using traditional methods if you use the right cut of beef, season it appropriately, and pay close attention to the cooking temperature and time. It’s also a terrific option for people who are health-conscious because it’s a quick and easy way to eat a high-protein meal without the added fat.
